This is most especially true for call center agents who are now opting a better lifestyle. But the debate still remains. Is vaping really better than smoking?
The first electronic cigarette was made in Beijing China by Hon Lik in 2003. It was introduced to Europe and in the US three years later. In the span of almost 8 years, it has expanded exponentially and globally. This billion-dollar industry is set to grow even bigger in the incoming years.
How does vaping e-cigarettes work?
Vaping is the process of using an e-cigarette. An e-cigarette converts liquid nicotine to vapor which is then inhaled by the user. It is battery-powered so there is no danger of fire or ash or the smoky smell. It comes with a cartridge that can have several flavors.
Is vaping e-cigarettes safe?
The e-cigarette is still in its early stages. No one can definitely say
for sure if it is safe or not. Recently, there are studies surfacing that contradict each other. There are some that say it’s not all that bad but there are some that say that you should never touch them.
One Harvard study, has claimed that vaping devices contain chemicals that can cause damage to the lungs. This is also supported by a study released by the American Physiological Society, that says that even non-nicotine e-cig solutions have a damaging effect on lung health.
Let’s take note that nicotine has been proven to cause damage to our bodies. As long as we are putting that substance in to our lungs, we are at constant risk.
One thing’s for sure, though, is that vaping is definitely a better alternative to smoking. In fact, in a study published by Public Health England (PHE), vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking. There are also no deaths that can be attributed to vaping but millions by traditional smoking.
Vaping e-cigarettes vs Smoking
There is a big difference with vaping and smoking. In vaping e-cigarettes you inhale vapor while in smoking you inhale smoke. Vaping is electronic so there are no ashes or an actual fire. While in lighting a cigarette, the user is most likely to inhale smoke instead of the nicotine. You can actually vape in a closed space and not risk others of second-hand smoke.
Debatably, the amount of harmful chemicals that are present in the e-cigarette is only about a fraction compared to those in an actual cigarette. You can also control the amount of nicotine you inhale or have no nicotine at all.
Vaping e-cigarettes is cheaper than smoking. There are thousands of people who can testify to this. By how much depends on how much a person consumes in a day and can only be felt in the long run.
The feeling of smoking and vaping e-cigarettes are two different things altogether. It’s as different as eating a pancake and eating a crepe. It basically boils down to your personal preference. There are some cigarette smokers who do not enjoy vaping while there those who like e-cigarettes more than the real thing.
Should I Vape?
The question still remains, should you vape? For those who have not smoked before, it is not advisable to start vaping. There are no health benefits and there are possible risks.
For those who want to quit smoking, this is definitely the easiest way to stop smoking. Most doctors, however, highly recommend to use different alternatives like candy and exercising to overcome smoking.
