C Vijayakumar has replaced Anant Gupta as the president and CEO of HCL Technologies effective immediately. Vijayakumar has been instrumental in driving the company’s infrastructure services business and is an executive sponsor for HCL’s top strategic accounts.
Vijayakumar, who was recently elevated as COO of the company, has held several roles in technology, business & operational leadership positions in this business, leading up to being the president of global infrastructure services. His elevation follows Gupta’s in many ways who first became the president of infrastructure services, then as COO and finally took over as CEO from his predecessor Vineet Nayar.

Over the last couple of years, by organizing itself for transformation, the company has sustained consistency in its growth and has achieved a differentiated market position, said Shiv Nadar, chairman and chief strategy officer. “Vijaya has been a transformational leader in the company leading from the front. To increase momentum of company’s next generation services, Vijayakumar will further accelerate execution of Mode 1-2-3 strategy to grow the experience based and business outcome oriented next generation services such as BEYONDigital, IOT Works, cloud and cyber-security services, sustain leadership position in the core services and achieve greater momentum in the ecosystem driven products and platform business.
