Philippines Outsourcing Firms Remains As Top Employer In The Country

Philippines outsourcing firms remains as the top-employment sector in the country, accounting for 38% of the country’s total workforce, according to data released by JobStreet.com.

The study further revealed that the high salary in the country’s IT sector will continue to encourage and create a stronger industry workforce.

Professionals in the IT sector remain the highest-paid employees in the country, JobStreet.com said.

IT professionals command a monthly salary of P37,034 for a junior executive and P68,723 for supervisors. The business process outsourcing (BPO) remains the top-employment sector accounting for 38 percent of the total workforce, the report said.

Following IT-related jobs, other professions having the highest salaries include law and legal services P29,430, training and development P27,253, banking and financial services P27,188, and actuarial science and statistics P27,064, it added.

Australian Firms Pick Philippines for Outsourcing

Another study conducted by government think tank Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) said most Australian companies prefer exploring offshoring opportunities in the Philippines.

The study showed that Australian companies prefer the Philippines over rival BPO destinations because of the country’s favorable time zone, highly literate workforce, and competitive labor rates, among others.

However, the study also noted a number of challenges that the country’s outsourcing industry needs to address.

These include government red tape, conflicting government requirements, poor infrastructure, traffic congestion, and expensive and unreliable utilities.

Zendesk Opens New Manila Office

Meanwhile, American customer service software firm Zendesk Inc has recently launched a new office in Taguig City, providing job opportunities for over 200 people.

Zendesk CEO Mikkel Svane said the company is banking on the Asia-Pacific region’s talent pool that he describes as huge.

Svane said the Asia-Pacific region is a key focus for Zendesk with paid customer accounts growing by over 35% year-over-year.

The company picked the Philippines as its regional customer experience hub to access the local pool of highly skilled technical talent with strong English-language ability.

Zendesk first opened its offices in Manila in 2014 with a team focused on sales, support and presales. The Zendesk Manila office measures over 2,200 square meters.
